I learned a lot volunteering at WVCS. I came from a poor background but I grew up without it being a baggage and burden. My family got out of poverty and I never had to worry about money and having a roof over my head. I gain a new perspective working with low income families and individuals. It just breaks my heart every time to see how they struggle to get by and I live so luxuriously in contrast to their lifestyles. I learned to be more appreciative of the things I have. Everything I enjoy or do nowadays, I don't take them for granted because I know that I have it a lot better than most people. I also stopped finding happiness in materialistic things and learned to accept that the physical things don't define what's within. It's such an amazing experience to just put yourself out there and associate with people from different class or race, because then you find out that the world is so diverse and you learned not to be prejudice against people for any reasons.?
