The Longview Invitational will be held this weekend at the local Longview golf course.
Time for a new motto at the Longview golf course: Live and let drive. As in golf balls and luxury sports cars.
Members of the Club at Longview will lose a few playing days next month when the Chiquita Classic relocates from Cincinnati, following the lead of its title sponsor, so developer Mel Graham conjured a memorable make-good. This weekend, the club hosts its first Longview Invitational for members, with a $250,000 Aston Martin going to anyone who sinks a hole-in-one on the 175-yard, par-3 10th hole.
?We?re giving away 007?s car,? Graham says, alluding to James Bond?s preferred transportation mode. ?We were scratching our heads, ?What can we do that would be really cool???
Graham says the member field will be capped at 80 players and the hole-in-one contest will run through Labor Day weekend. Longview is the area?s only Jack Nicklaus signature-design golf course, the centerpiece of a 1,000-acre gated community. The golf course opened in 2003.
The Chiquita Classic, part of the Nationwide Tour, the golf world's equivalent of Triple-A baseball, runs Sept. 24-30 at Longview.

British filmmaker Chris Swanton always wondered why no one had ever made an English feature film directly based on (not loosely adapted from) Franz Kafka?s classic short story Metamorphosis ? until he began shooting his own true-to-the-text version that will have its world premiere at the Festival des films du Monde on Friday.
?Now I know why nobody else has done it,? he said, with a laugh, as we settled into our chairs in the bar of the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
In Kafka?s story, the narrative revolves around a large insect, formerly a human being of the hard-working male bachelor variety. ?As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect,? runs the famous first line of the tale, which was written in 1912 and published, in German as Die Verwandlung, in Prague, in 1915.
At first, the toughest decision he had to make, Swanton said, was whether the creature should be seen or merely heard. Then, having decided to make him visible, the challenge became how to represent him. In British playwright Steven Berkoff?s 1969 play, the actor is required to move like a cockroach or beetle, without benefit of costume or special makeup.
For film, however, a more authentic parasite seemed appropriate. Swanton?s team researched for months before coming up with a bug shot that appealed to them. ?We didn?t want to make him too much like a real insect,? he said. ?Yet he had to be believable. So it was a weird compromise. I would say it?s about 70 per cent accurate as an insect; the head and things like that. We just gave him more of a human face. He?s a bit like a pet, really.? (Not one that you would want in your lap.)
?We started with a (stuffed) puppet, but it fell apart and didn?t work,? he admitted. Luckily they already had a CGI (computer generated imagery) company on-site to help with the leg movements. So Swanton opted for a completely computer-generated insect that looks somewhat like a humongous louse, but is actually a hybrid creation, with gentle, saucer-like eyes.
In this delicately crafted film, Gregor the bug (with voice by Paul Thornley) is surrounded and supported by a fine cast of British actors, notably Robert Pugh as the baffled father; Maureen Lipman as the fearful, but devoted mother; and Lara Rees as the violin-playing sister who grows impatient with her transformed sibling.
Swanton said he chose to present, rather than interpret the story to let us make up our own minds about it.
?Poor old Gregor has been supporting his family to the best of his abilities for the last five years. This is what?s behind this whole thing. He wakes up one day and says, ?I can?t do this anymore.? I think the key thing is that Gregor hates his job; he?s doing it purely to fulfill the responsibilities he feels he owes to his family.?
Whether Metamorphosis is taken as a socialistic worker?s lament, an existentialist ode, or an absurdist comedy, it has a lasting, universal allure. Everyone has woken up to a bad day, reluctant to look in the mirror.
Swanton, a soft-spoken man in his early 60s, said his obsession with Metamorphosis dates back to his student days. He began his career as an academic (PhD in German from King?s College, London) and studied theatre with Brecht?s Berliner Ensemble, but ended up spending most of his working life (17 years) as a sound and picture editor at the BBC. He admits his connection with the Kafka novella might have intensified during the years he stayed on the BBC, after the circa 1980s cutbacks began and the creative thrill was gone to support his family. He?s now a father of five, grandfather of 10.
For years, Swanton said, he tried to persuade someone at the BBC to take up the Metamorphosis project, but to no avail. It was only after he took an early retirement buyout that he decided to pursue a second career and direct it himself.
The budget was in the million-dollar range, most of it out of his own pocket ? after selling two real estate properties. The rest came from some friends from the BBC, the British Film Council and the CGI company (Rockkiss Digital Media Entertainment Ltd.) that created Gregor.
?As co-producers, we managed to put this thing together,? he said.
This film?s potential market value, as Swanton well knows, lies in the art-house circuit, public television and as a DVD for educational purposes.
Shot in muted colours, with keen attention to period dress and clocking in at about 110 minutes, it?s very much the stuff of Masterpiece Theatre. This could ensure it a long life, if not an instantly profitable one.
To Swanton, Metamorphosis was just one of those things he had to do or spend the rest of his life regretting it. ?This is my first and last adventure,? he said. Or, if there?s a next time, he?s going to make sure someone else puts up all of the money.
Metamorphosis screens Friday at 9:30 p.m., Saturday. at 2:30 p.m., Sunday. at 4:30 p.m. at Cin?ma Quartier Latin.
Being physically active has numerous benefits. Now a study has looked closely at the effects of fitness in the midlife years for preventing debilitating chronic diseases later.
The ongoing study gathered fitness stats for more than 18,000 adults, and followed their health status into old age. Assessing 40 years of that data, the analysis finds that those who had higher fitness levels in their 30s, 40s and 50s were substantially less likely to have a chronic condition between the ages of 70 and 85. The findings are in the Archives of Internal Medicine. [Benjamin Willis et al, Midlife Fitness and the Development of Chronic Conditions in Later Life]
Physical fitness seemed to stave off heart disease and heart failure, which might not be a big surprise. But it also reduced rates of diabetes, kidney disease and even Alzheimer's disease.
Current recommendations suggest adults make time for at least 20 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity a day, such as fast walking, jogging, biking or swimming. Busy middle-aged people might find it especially hard to make time for such exercise. But a small investment looks like it could pay big health dividends for decades to come.

How you decide to go about it depends on your goods or service, your target audience also your budget. The plan normally includes what features plus benefits you want to convey to your target market, how you will convey it to them (this process is often referred to as your advertising campaign) and who is in charge to carry the various activities in the project. This point is missed by surprisingly not a few people but successful advertising greatly depends on knowing the preferred methods and styles of communications of the target markets that you are trying to reach with your advertisements. A couple of very useful tools are media plans and calendars. This allows you to specify which advertising methods you are using and when you are using them. You want to show your target audience why they need your product or service. You?ll want to consider all of the on the internet methods of communication, such as newsletters, classifieds, press releases, as well as offline mediums like radio, posters, word of mouth, press releases, etc.
Here are some excellent on the internet advertising promotion methods.
1. Market Your Business by Local Advertising. If you have a local business such as a restaurant or dental?practice, hairdressing salon, sport club, advertising on the internet can simply boost your visibility in addition to sales. multifarious small local companies discount the internet considering they believe it to be only for national or international types of products. This is definitely not true. One way to maximize your local exposure is to produce a PPC (pay per click) campaign on Google?s local network. That way, if someone in your local area does a search for your type of business, you will come up in the ads. You be able also advertise on local business or administative office sites or forums.
2. Market Your Business Online by PPC advertising. Pay per click (PPC) advertising is one of the most strong online advertising promotion strategies today. when done correctly, you can gain lots leads and sales from your pay per click ads. In a nutshell, pay per click ads are the text ads you see on the right of the screen when you do a search for something online. And if you click on one of those ads, the person who placed it there will pay the search engine for your click. PPC is an extremely profitable way to advertise because you only pay when you get results. In order to do PPC well, you understand the basics of keyword research and how to write compelling ad copy.
3. Free advertising. With the advent of social media and blogging, any company be able now advertise its products and services for free.
online advertising promotion is just one part of the marketing mix that you must be considering. But it may be the most significant part of Market Your Business Online , depending on your target market.
Best Ways That You Can Market Your Business Online Get More Traffic = More Visitors = More Sales = More Profits

Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation aims for new approach, announces patient care program
WASHINGTON (August 28, 2012) The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation launched a new national Patient Care Program today that seeks to eliminate all preventable harms to patients. The Foundation expects to allocate a half billion dollars over ten years if the Program develops as anticipated. The Patient Care Program will focus on both meaningfully engaging patients and their families in their own healthcare and developing a systems approach that optimally reconfigures interprofessional teams, processes, and technology to be supportive of that engagement. Such work should also decrease healthcare costs.
The new Program will build on the achievements and current work by others in the field, collaborate with like-minded organizations, and fund research and clinical projects that will develop and fully integrate these two critical areas.
"By developing and connecting these two critical aspects of healthcare, we believe that healthcare will be better, more cost-effective and more respectful for patients and their families, and the healthcare professionals who serve them," said Steve McCormick, president of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.
Dr. George Bo-Linn, chief program officer for the Patient Care Program, said the effort will begin with a focus on eliminating all preventable harms to adult patients in acute-care settings. The loss of dignity and respect that some patients and families experience are preventable harms that must be addressed as well, he added.
Each year tens of thousands of preventable deaths occur in U.S. hospitals, and millions of dollars are spent on complications and patient readmissions that could be averted. Additionally, fewer than half of all patients report feeling part of and respected by the healthcare system that serves them.
"Improvements in patient care will be more significant and lasting if patients and their families are actively engagedespecially if we reconfigure clinical processes, care teams and technology into an integrated whole to focus on patient safety," Bo-Linn said. "Much improvement has occurred but too many patients still suffer from lapses in quality and safety. It's ambitious to attempt to prevent all harm, but we must strive for no less."
Today's launch included the announcement of a strategic partnership with the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality, where an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, engineers, bioethicists, and others will identify ways to eliminate all harm to patients, engage families in the care of their loved ones, and reduce costs beginning in the intensive care unit. The $8.9 million grant from the Foundation will support their work. The project, led by Institute Director Dr. Peter Pronovost, will focus on identifying improvements that could be applied in other healthcare settings.
"Patient safety should not have to rely on the heroism of individual healthcare professionals working in frequently chaotic environments; we should redesign healthcare delivery using an interdisciplinary systems approach in the same way that engineers manage dynamic complexity," Pronovost said. "And we should do so while incorporating the perspective of patients and families."
The Foundation's new Program is also working with the Institute of Medicine (IOM), RAND Corporation, Health Affairs, University of California, San Francisco, Stanford University, and others.
To assist in fostering this approach, the IOM will partner with the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) to initiate a collaborative convening of leaders from leading universities with joint medicine and engineering initiatives, healthcare organizations experienced in systems engineering processes, and information technology, patient advocacy, government, and large healthcare systems with the potential to catalyze change.
"The group will consider the issues and activities most important to advance the field, and explore ways to facilitate progress," said IOM President Dr. Harvey V. Fineberg, who joined with NAE President Dr. Charles Vest in underscoring the importance of such collaborative work.
The Patient Care Program includes and builds on the achievements of the Foundation's Betty Irene Moore Nursing Initiative, which is significantly improving adult patient care in northern Californian hospitals, and the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at the University of California, Davis, which is transforming healthcare through nursing education, research, and leadership.

Promoting eBooks can be either next to impossible or very easy, and there are many reasons for either outcome. The main problem for most people trying to do this is either getting traffic or making conversions. You will not become rich just by peddling one measly ebook, but that can be your foot in the door. If you want to make it on the net with a business, then you need to be prepared for serious work. There are probably a hundred things we can tell you, but unfortunately we only have time for a handful.
There are tons of ways to promote anything such as package discount offers that are only available for some short time plus many others. Naturally there are other factors to take into account; so have to be adequately covering all your bases here. Do market intelligence, and that means become aware of what successful web businesses do in the way of special marketing offers. No matter what you do, you must have the fundamentals down solid such as ensuring people even want your information. Or you can simply add your ebook along with your software product and get more sales.
You obviously have to start at the beginning with an ebook and make that successful, but after that, you must keep going and produce more of them. When you?ve got more than one ebook under your sleeves, you can sell to the same customer again and again. It?s proven that people that buy from you once, buy from you again. So if somebody bought your first ebook, they might just buy the second one, the third one, etc. Just dedicate to bringing people into your business fold, and then you can marketing to them as necessary.
Of course you must monitor what is going on with regard to things like refunds and what your customers are saying. You have to give people what you say you will give them in the sales copy. If you have to take care of anything with the product, then just do it and move on. What does it do? This image-based sharing app allows users to select, or "pin," visual items and place them into virtual bulletin boards, a perfect way to categorize your favorite things, such as artists you like, or all those muscle cars you dream of owning one day, and then share them with friends. The iPad, iPhone, and Android apps launched a week ago and gives you the flexibility to pin from anywhere you are whenever you wish.
The layout is simple, displaying tiled images that cascade in columns down the screen. You can swipe from left to right as you browse, and a menu button on the top left-hand corner provides you with categories of pins from which to choose, such as architecture, food and drink, and animals. When you tap on an image, you can like it, "repin" it to one of your own boards, or share it with others using your Facebook, Twitter or email account. You an also surf the web within the app and use the "Pin" button to post original items.
The iPhone app provides a two-column layout allowing you to see more as you navigate, and the iPad app allows you to resume browsing the site after viewing a board. The much anticipated Android app is optimized for all sizes and speeds of Android's phones and tablets and is available at the Google Play Store and the Amazon App Store for the Kindle Fire.
Is it easy to set up? Yes. As simple as simple gets. Log in with your email, Facebook or Twitter account. Signing up for the service is easiest via the website though.
Should I try it? The easy-to-use layout and flexibility of this app lets you keep collecting and sharing images of things you like, make you laugh or make you think while sitting at home, or out and about on the town. So, yes, you should try it.

CHICAGO ? Joe Mather took advantage of a rare start with a go-ahead single during a three-run rally in the eighth inning Friday and the Chicago Cubs ended a four-game losing streak with a 5-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies.
The Rockies had matched a season best with a five-game winning streak.
Chicago trailed 3-2 going into the eighth before Brett Jackson led off with his second homer of the season.
Pinch hitter Luis Valbuena doubled with one out and Mather, batting in the leadoff spot usually occupied by David DeJesus, followed with an RBI single against reliever Matt Belisle (3-5).
Mather later scored on reliever Matt Reynolds' throwing error to first on Anthony Rizzo's grounder.
James Russell (6-1) got two outs for the win and Carlos Marmol closed for his 16th save.
The Rockies scored in the first on an error by shortstop Starlin Castro, a single by Jordan Pacheco and a wild pitch by Jeff Samardzija.
Chris Nelson made it 2-0 in the second with his sixth homer. Carlos Gonzalez led off the third with his 21st homer and first since July 23.
Alfonso Soriano and Welington Castillo hit solo home runs in the Cubs fifth off Drew Pomeranz, making it 3-2.
Pomeranz left after the fifth. The home runs were the only hits he allowed.
Samardzija gave up two earned runs and six hits in seven innings, striking out seven.
NOTES: Cubs manager Dale Sveum opted for Mather to lead off against LHP Pomeranz, giving DeJesus a day off. "We'll keep everybody else in their slot and see what happens," he said. "We haven't seen many lefties in a while, so we'll give Joe a few at-bats." ... Pomeranz was the first lefty starter the Cubs faced since Aug. 8 in a 2-0 loss to San Diego's Clayton Richard ... Colorado 3B coach Rich Dauer will be inducted into the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame on Saturday. He played for the 1983 World Series champion Orioles ... Rockies OF Dexter Fowler (ankle) is off crutches and will likely not be in the lineup during the Cubs series. He could possibly pinch hit Sunday, manager Jim Tracy said. ... Colorado INF Josh Rutledge (quadriceps) is doing better, but is heavily taped and progressing slowly and won't be pushed, Tracy said.
If youre buying a domain for business purposes, then its especially important for you to decide on the right domain name as well as a reliable and affordable domain registrar.
Making a brief evaluation of your Internet business before you buy domains will help in the process of selecting the most appropriate domain name for your business. This evaluation will involve you compiling the following information: your company name, products or services you are intending to sell, your targeted web traffic and the type of online marketing you are planning to pursue. Evaluating your business and purpose in this way will help you narrow-down on the type of domaine name that is best suited for you.
One of the key objectives of selecting an effective domain name is for this name to help you targeted web traffic, leading to a consistent growth in potential customers and eventually and increase your online sales and profits. An effective domain name should be short, simple and reflect the nature of your online business or at least the contents you are planning to publish on your website. It is highly advisable to avoid initials, acronyms (unless commonly used acronyms), dashes or other symbols as this may confuse potential customers and make it difficult for them to remember your domaine name, especially if you want them to re-visit your site. Once youve determined a domain name or names that are most ideal for your online purpose, then you can proceed to buy domains unless those specific domain names youve chosen have already been registered under other owners.
Selecting a reliable domain register is the next important step you need to take in order to buy domain names of your choice.
A reliable domain registrar, like Active-Domain.com, will help ensure a standard of security as well as efficient, timely and dependable customer service you may require even after you buy your domains. Your registrar will be able to help you check on the availability of the particular domain name or names youve chosen. Take a little bit of time to shop around for a registrar that you will be comfortable working with. Again, a credible registrar like Active-Domain.com, for example, will save you much hassle and provide you with a smooth, simple and easy procedure when you proceed to buy domain name or names for your online business or personal website. Former President Bill Clinton personally makes his 2012 campaign TV ad debut in a new spot affirming President Obama's economic plan.
"This election to me is about which candidate is more likely to return us to full employment. This is a clear choice," Clinton says directly to the camera.
"We need to keep going with his plan," he says of Obama.
The endorsement underscores just how valuable and credible Team Obama sees Clinton in the quest to influence persuadable voters in a handful of key swing states. The popular 42nd president has appeared with Obama on the stump, in campaign web ads and at events to support the pro-Obama super PAC, Priorities USA Action.
Obama regularly invokes Clinton in his argument for higher taxes on upper-income earners, arguing the approach taken during the 1990s - "our plan" - led to budget surpluses and millions of new jobs.
"The Republican plan is to cut more taxes on upper income people and go back to deregulation. That's what got us in trouble in the first place," Clinton says in the new ad, which begins airing today in New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Colorado, and Nevada.
This spot, titled "Clear Choice," is also noteworthy for what it does not mention: Mitt Romney. In terms of tone, this is the first positive TV ad from the Obama campaign in nearly a month.
If a woman is still a virgin at age 25, you have to wonder if she's that interested in sex in the first place. Or what kind of hangups she might have. Those don't go away easily, even in marriage.

At my age, there aren't any other kinds of available women. Maybe that is why the thought of dating someone who is not divorced never occurred to me. Perhaps a younger man cares. Now that I am thinking about it, I am sure I prefer dating a divorced woman for the same reasons given in the video. For what it is worth, I have been dating a divorced woman for nearly four years, and we are happy.

Well, yes, men like dating (and banging, I must say) divorced women. Why? Because many of them are some of the nastiest creatures on this planet when it comes to sex -- that's a compliment, by the way....or is it? Guys like kinky stuff like that.
However, while the honey is sweet, it's not worth it taking the whole bee colony into your room. It is fatally dangerous. That's the way it is.

"Will men date divorced women?"
Ha ha ha ha. Could we perhaps write a more inane article HP? MEN will "date" (i.e., sleep with) pretty much any women that are willing that they are at least moderately attracted to. There is no stigma in existence that will keep a man from answering THAT call.
Next... whew.
Edogg62: "Will men date divorced women?" Ha ha ha ha. Could
That's one advantage to men of the women's "equal rights and liberation movement," they fought for the right to be hussies in public just like men. No use marrying them when they give it out so easy these days.
